Senior Accounts Payable Accountant

About the role

Airbus Portugal is looking for a Senior Accounts Payable accountant to join its Global Business Services (GBS) team in Lisbon. The role covers invoice processing, payment execution, vendor statement reconciliation and compliance with the procure-to-pay (P2P) process.

Key responsibilities

• Process and monitor incoming supplier invoices through all invoicing channels and pay them on time in line with internal and external requirements.
• Resolve payment issues and handle queries and claims from internal customers and external suppliers, including supporting litigation topics.
• Perform Vendor Statement Reconciliations (VSRs) to match liabilities between Airbus and suppliers, and manage limited non-purchase order exceptions under the Airbus Payments directive.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal customers, promote adherence to business rules and support continuous improvement of the P2P process.
• Act as a guardian of compliance: follow correct procedures for invoices, stay alert to fraud attempts and promote compliance among stakeholders.
• Take part in cross-functional and cross-national projects supporting the P2P process.
• Receive and verify invoices against items ordered and received, prepare them for payment, and resolve exception invoices.
• Handle routine internal and external inquiries, act as a liaison between departments and vendors, and maintain vendor statements.

Required profile

• 5 to 10 years of experience in finance and accounting.
• Advanced English; French, German or Spanish is a plus.
• Ability to process at least 80 invoices daily with 98% accuracy and to handle high volumes of data entry.
• Attention to detail, organisational and time-management skills, and ability to work independently and in teams.

Required skills

• Familiarity with standard accounting concepts, practices and procedures.
• Working knowledge of SAP is desirable.
