Financial Controller

About the role

Air Apps, a family-founded company building an AI-powered Personal & Entrepreneurial Resource Planner, is looking for a Financial Controller. You will join the finance team and take ownership of financial reporting, internal controls and accounting operations, reviewing operations, budgeting and forecasting and compliance processes. The position is fully onsite in Lisbon, with relocation support offered.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, control and report financial planning, budgeting and forecasting across departments and product lines.
• Review monthly, quarterly and annual closings and reporting.
• Oversee internal controls and ensure compliance with regulations and tax obligations.
• Manage cash flow, cost control and ad-hoc financial risk assessments.
• Analyse variances and report on financial performance metrics.
• Contribute to business planning and strategic initiatives with financial insights.
• Optimise automation of ERP and accounting tools such as Netsuite, Payhawk and Ramp.

Required profile

• Around 5+ years of experience in accounting, controlling or financial management.
• Prior experience in a senior audit position or Big 4 firm, and/or start-up or scale-up experience, highly valued.
• Degree in Accounting, Management, Finance or a related field (bachelor's or master's).
• Chartered Accountant qualification is a strong plus.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Solid understanding of accounting standards, financial statements and tax regulations.
• Experience with Excel, Netsuite, Payhawk, Ramp, Oracle or SAGE.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and clear communication of financial insights to financial and non-financial stakeholders.
