Senior Accountant

About the role

1GLOBAL, a technology-driven global mobile communications provider, is building a strong Finance team ahead of its goal to become a listed entity within three years. The Senior Accountant owns core accounting functions and gets exposure to technical and cross-functional work, with room to take on special projects. The role is based in Lisbon, reports to the Deputy Group Controller and sits close to senior finance leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting
• Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with regulations
• Prepare financial statements for several entities
• Support wholesale cost calculations as part of the month-end close
• Support worldwide audits, working with internal teams and external partners
• Assist in finance automation projects and identify process improvements
• Oversee the automated cash reconciliation process
• Gain exposure to IFRS 16 lease accounting during the close process
• Improve finance team processes for greater efficiency

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent)
• 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance, including Big 4 training
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Naturally curious, comfortable asking questions and taking on more responsibility

• Proficiency in Excel and accounting software
• Analytical, organisational and communication skills
