Senior Accountant

About the role

Efficio is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Lisbon office. You will lead the month‑end financial reporting process, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and support both internal and external audit activities. This role offers the chance to work with a global consulting team and contribute to high‑impact procurement and supply‑chain projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare month‑end journal entries and reconcile key accounts according to the month‑end calendar.
• Maintain the general ledger, monitor journal activity, and ensure accurate account reconciliations.
• Produce and review balance‑sheet reconciliations to auditable standards each month.
• Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Analyse cost movements and draft first‑line management commentary.
• Identify and implement process improvements for accounting systems and workflows.
• Collaborate with accounts payable/receivable teams to meet month‑end sub‑ledger cut‑offs.
• Maintain intercompany ledgers and perform monthly intercompany reconciliations.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 + years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS and relevant tax regulations.
• Excellent Excel proficiency.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field (preferred).
• Professional certifications such as ACCA or CIMA are a plus.
