Researcher – Advanced User Support & ML in HPC

About the role
The position focuses on providing advanced technical support and research in high‑performance computing (HPC) environments, with a strong emphasis on machine learning, deep learning, and computer vision applications.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver Level 2 and 3 user support, optimizing code and resolving performance bottlenecks for specific architectures.
- Create educational materials and conduct training sessions to empower users of ML/DL frameworks.
- Maintain transparent communication channels between support teams and users, and assist in disseminating project results.
- Coordinate R&D projects, prepare grant applications, supervise junior researchers, and produce scientific publications for international venues.
- Engage with scientific and professional communities, especially in computer vision and machine learning.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Electrical and Computing Engineering.
- Final degree classification of at least 18/20.
- Proven experience developing ML/DL models in HPC settings.
- Experience applying ML/DL to image analysis.
- Strong command of Portuguese and English (written and spoken).
Required skills
- Python programming.
- Deep‑learning frameworks: PyTorch, TensorFlow, NVIDIA FLARE.
- Linux system administration.
- HPC environments and SLURM job scheduling.
- Distributed computing management systems.
