R&D Engineer Internship – Heat Pump Water Heaters

About the role

We are seeking a motivated engineer to join our R&D team in Aveiro and contribute to the development, validation and launch of next‑generation heat pump water heaters. The internship offers hands‑on experience with product innovation, laboratory testing and engineering decision‑making, directly supporting new product introduction and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and industrialisation of new heat pump water‑heater products.
• Analyse current and upcoming legislation, standards and technical requirements.
• Define validation strategies, test plans and engineering test methods.
• Execute laboratory testing, measurements and performance evaluations.
• Prepare clear technical reports and communicate results to stakeholders.
• Participate in troubleshooting, brainstorming and root‑cause analysis activities.
• Support engineering change‑management processes during product development.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including R&D, Quality, Product Management and Manufacturing.

Required profile

• Academic degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering or a related technical field.
• Strong interest in thermal systems, refrigeration or sustainable technologies.
• Good communication skills in Portuguese and English.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and technical topics simultaneously.
• Innovative mindset with willingness to challenge and improve existing solutions.
