Parts Specialist

About the role

The Parts Specialist provides high‑level service to retail and installer customers in an automotive parts store. You will assist shoppers, support professional installers, and help store management with daily operational tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Greet walk‑in customers, answer phone inquiries, and recommend parts while promoting company service programs such as Hi‑5, Low Price Guarantee, and Rock the Call.
• Accurately process cash, checks, and credit‑card transactions, and handle exchanges and returns according to policy.
• Maintain store presentation by stocking shelves, updating planograms, receiving freight, and performing inventory adjustments.
• Prepare new, core, and warranty merchandise for shipment to the distribution center.
• Operate brake lathe and other test equipment after training, and perform in‑store services like wiper installation, battery testing, charging‑system checks, trouble‑code scanning, and headlight‑capsule replacement where legally permitted.
• Occasionally drive a delivery vehicle, meeting company driving‑record requirements.

Required profile

• Strong, friendly, and professional customer‑service orientation.
• Ability to multitask between phone and in‑store interactions.
• Willingness to complete all required training and certifications.

Required skills

• Brake lathe operation
• Vehicle battery testing and charging‑system diagnostics
• Scanning vehicle trouble codes
• Headlight capsule replacement
• Automotive parts cataloging using the Weatherly index system
• ASE certification (preferred)
