Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN) – Hemodialysis

About the role

The Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN) works within a hemodialysis health‑care team to deliver high‑quality chronic dialysis treatment to patients in an outpatient setting. The role combines direct patient care, staff supervision, and patient education while adhering to FMCNA policies and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee Patient Care Technicians and other staff in the safe delivery of hemodialysis therapy.
• Delegate tasks to LVNs/LPNs, Patient Care Technicians, and Dialysis Assistants.
• Assess daily patient needs, assign care tasks, and monitor staff performance.
• Provide comprehensive education to patients and families on ESRD, vascular access, diet, fluid, and medication compliance.
• Implement and adjust treatment prescriptions, including sodium and ultrafiltration modeling.
• Evaluate patient response to therapy and communicate concerns to the Team Leader or physician.
• Conduct initial, annual, and ongoing nursing assessments and document care according to FMCNA policies.
• Participate in staff training, orientation, and continuous quality improvement activities.

Required profile

• Current RN licensure.
• Experience in outpatient hemodialysis or renal care.
• Ability to supervise and delegate to a multidisciplinary care team.
• Strong communication skills for patient and family education.
• Commitment to quality improvement and compliance programs.
