Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship

About the role

Walgreens is offering an earn‑while‑you‑learn Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship that prepares you to become a PTCB‑certified pharmacy technician. You will work directly with customers, support pharmacists, and develop strong patient relationships in a patient‑centric environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in dispensing prescriptions and performing pharmacy department duties.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and verify medication accuracy.
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, and check for possible interactions.
• Operate cash registers, handle cash, and process manual claims for third‑party prescription services.
• Provide a distinctive and delightful customer experience, greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving issues.
• Support inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
• Assist with clinical services, including sample collection and coordination with Walgreens health clinics.
• Maintain a clean, organized pharmacy environment and comply with all company policies and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Preferred: at least six months of retail experience, good math and computer skills, knowledge of inventory control, and prior experience with Walgreens.
• Preferred: PTCB certification (required for promotion to senior technician).
