Materials Planner – Supplier Coordination & Inventory Management

About the role

The Materials Planner will support BorgWarner's Viana do Castelo plant by managing supplier relationships and ensuring material availability for production. This role requires detailed planning, proactive problem‑solving, and close coordination with both internal teams and external suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary contact between suppliers and BorgWarner for order delivery schedules.
• Monitor order status, deadlines, and delivery performance, and initiate corrective actions when risks arise.
• Verify and adjust material plans to align purchases with production needs.
• Organize material and inventory flows to meet production objectives while optimizing stock levels.
• Define and control safety stock levels for assigned materials.
• Maintain accurate consumption and demand records for managed materials.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, hygiene, and environmental standards.

Required profile

• 12th grade education; a bachelor's degree is a plus.
• 3‑5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or material planning.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict‑management abilities.
• Fluent English proficiency.

Required skills

• Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems (preferred).
