Laundry Attendant

About the role

The Laundry Attendant ensures that all linens, garments, and textiles are cleaned, dried, and prepared to the highest standards for hotel guests. This full‑time, onsite position is based at the Marriott property in Sintra, Portugal.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor washing, dry‑cleaning, and drying machinery, adding chemicals and cleaning lint traps as required.
• Identify stained or damaged items and decide whether to rewash, treat, repair, or discard.
• Inspect cleaned articles for quality, fold them to designated sizes, and place them in clean linen carts.
• Set dryer times and temperatures according to fabric type and load size.
• Maintain accurate records of all items processed.
• Follow all safety, security, and company policies, reporting any incidents promptly.
• Support team goals, maintain a professional appearance, and protect company assets.

Required profile

• No high school diploma or GED required.
• No prior laundry or related experience needed.
• Ability to stand, walk, lift and move items up to 25 lb without assistance.
• Willingness to work in confined, elevated, or slippery areas and navigate stairs or ramps.
• Commitment to confidentiality, safety, and quality standards.

Required skills

• Operation of commercial washing machines.
• Operation of dry‑cleaning equipment.
• Basic knowledge of chemical handling for laundry processes.
• Ability to inspect and assess textile condition.
