Laboratory Technician I – Microbiology & Environmental Monitoring

About the role

The Laboratory Technician I will perform microbiological testing on water, raw materials, in‑process samples and finished products in a pharmaceutical environment. The role supports manufacturing operations, follows cGMP and GLP standards, and works on a rotating shift schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct microbiological testing (bioburden, endotoxin) on water, in‑process and final product samples.
• Perform environmental monitoring of facilities and utilities using Climet, RCS, and surface sampling.
• Document test results accurately and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Collect, submit, and track samples for the MEC laboratory while ensuring schedule compliance.
• Maintain inventory of reagents, culture media, and reference materials.
• Manage disposal of domestic, biomedical, and hazardous waste in accordance with regulations.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for Environmental Health & Safety.

Required profile

• Associate degree in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology or related natural science.
• Minimum one year of experience in a pharmaceutical or microbiology laboratory.
• Fully bilingual in English and Spanish with strong oral communication.
• Willingness to work extended hours, weekends and rotating shifts.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Windows operating system.
• Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with Climet and RCS environmental monitoring equipment.
