Junior Finance Controller

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Finance Controller to join Arolla’s finance team in Lisbon. This hands‑on position offers early‑career professionals exposure to month‑end close, management reporting and statutory compliance across a multi‑entity group.

Key responsibilities

• Execute month‑end and year‑end close activities, including posting journal entries, calculating accruals and reconciling accounts for multiple entities.
• Assist in preparing financial statements under Portuguese accounting standards (SNC/NCRF) and, where required, IFRS.
• Support management reporting by preparing monthly accounts and variance analysis against budget.
• Help with tax compliance tasks such as VAT and corporate tax filings.
• Post and validate transactions in the ERP system and contribute to ERP implementation projects.
• Provide audit support by preparing schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.
• Identify and implement process improvements using Excel, Power Automate or other ERP tools.

Required profile

• Degree (Licenciatura or Mestrado) in Accounting, Finance or Economics.
• 0–3 years of experience in accounting or financial controlling; recent graduates with strong academic records are welcome.
• Good knowledge of Portuguese accounting standards (SNC/NCRF); IFRS exposure is a plus.
• Fluent Portuguese and working‑level English.
• Analytical, detail‑oriented and curious about automation.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• Experience with or interest in ERP systems.
• Basic knowledge of Power Automate.
