Junior Data Engineer - Mobile Apps

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Data Engineer to design, develop, and optimise our data infrastructure on Databricks, focusing on mobile‑app data pipelines. You will work with GCP services to build reliable, cost‑effective ETL/ELT workflows that support analytics and machine‑learning use cases.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and maintenance of the data platform on GCP, including BigQuery/Databricks warehousing and Google Cloud Storage data lakes.
• Help organise data into domain‑focused Data Marts for reporting and analytics.
• Assist with Terraform‑based Infrastructure as Code to provision cloud resources.
• Build, maintain and improve ETL/ELT pipelines using Apache Airflow, dbt, Dataflow, Pub/Sub and related tools.
• Monitor scheduled jobs, troubleshoot failures and ensure timely data delivery.
• Implement data‑quality checks with Great Expectations or dbt tests and maintain documentation of lineage and metadata.
• Follow security best practices (IAM, encryption) and support GDPR/CCPA compliance.
• Collaborate with Analytics, Product and Data Science teams to provide clean datasets for dashboards and experiments.

Required profile

• 1+ year of experience in data engineering or a related data role.
• Basic hands‑on experience with GCP services such as BigQuery and Google Cloud Storage.
• Familiarity with Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
• Exposure to dbt or similar transformation tools.
• Interest in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and data‑mart concepts.
• Good coding skills in Python; Java or Scala a plus.
