Junior AML & Compliance Officer

About the role

Join a leading Luxembourg professional services firm as it opens a brand‑new office in Porto. As a Junior AML & Compliance Officer you will support the full anti‑money‑laundering and compliance lifecycle, ensuring client onboarding and ongoing monitoring meet local regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct Customer Due Diligence (CDD) for onboarding, periodic reviews and trigger‑event reviews in line with Portuguese AML laws.
• Analyse KYC documentation and flag any discrepancies.
• Escalate issues to the first‑line manager or compliance department when required.
• Maintain compliance with internal policies, local AML regulations and Arendt Services’ guidelines.
• Liaise with clients, internal teams and third‑parties to resolve queries and complaints.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives and attend regulatory training sessions.
• Support transfer agents with capital calls, contract notes, cash reconciliation and payment queries.
• Produce KPI reports and client‑facing deliverables.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• 1‑3 years of relevant experience or a recent graduate.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive attitude and ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel.
