Junior Accounts Receivable Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Junior Accounts Receivable Accountant to join our Global Business Services team in Portugal, with openings in Coimbra or Lisbon. The role supports the full accounts‑receivable cycle, ensuring accurate invoicing, payment allocation and compliance with IFRS and internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Allocate incoming payments to invoices manually or via electronic tools.
• Analyse customer contracts and maintain data in SAP.
• Issue commercial delivery invoices, credit notes and advance‑payment invoices following legal and tax regulations.
• Distribute invoices to customers through post, email or electronic transmission.
• Verify external documents such as Airway Bills, Bills of Lading and customer certificates.
• Prepare debtor statements, send monthly reconciliation letters and support dunning processes.
• Conduct bad‑debt analysis, post provisions and manage write‑offs.
• Analyse receivables and advance‑payment balances, produce ageing reports and support audit activities.
• Identify and propose continuous‑improvement actions for the AR process and systems.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or junior professional with a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or equivalent experience in accounting administrative tasks.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, IFRS and internal financial control standards.
• Ability to work with customers across different regions (US/Europe) and translate their needs into concrete actions.

Required skills

• SAP accounting module.
• Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Familiarity with Lean principles for process improvement.
