Head of Finance – Shared Services

About the role

We are looking for a Head of Finance to lead the finance operations of a multinational services company’s Shared Service Centre in Porto. The role will oversee end‑to‑end finance processes across multiple countries and drive continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a centralized finance function covering accounts payable, accounts receivable, month‑end closing, reporting and data governance.
• Ensure high‑quality delivery and operational stability across multi‑country operations.
• Act as the primary escalation point, resolving issues efficiently.
• Promote process optimisation, automation and standardisation initiatives.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to support business growth and transformation.
• Manage budgets, monitor performance and identify efficiency and value‑creation opportunities.
• Develop, coach and engage a high‑performing finance team in a dynamic environment.

Required profile

• Strong experience in finance operations, shared services or complex international environments.
• Solid knowledge of end‑to‑end finance processes (AP, AR, Record‑to‑Report).
• Proven leadership experience managing teams and driving performance.
• Track record of process improvement, transformation or automation projects.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Hands‑on, results‑driven and comfortable in fast‑paced, matrix organisations.
• Degree in Finance, Business or a related field.
• Fluent English.
