General Technician – Kitchen & Refrigeration Systems Maintenance

About the role

We are looking for a skilled General Technician to join our luxury resort in Comporta, Portugal. You will ensure the smooth operation of all kitchen and refrigeration equipment, minimizing downtime and supporting our high‑end hospitality services.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on refrigeration units such as freezers, cold rooms, condensers and evaporators.
• Maintain and service commercial kitchen appliances including ovens, combi ovens, fryers, dishwashers and extraction systems.
• Conduct electrical troubleshooting on 230/400 V circuits, replace faulty components and ensure safe work practices.
• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance routines and accurately document all interventions.
• Manage spare‑parts inventory, identify required components and coordinate procurement.
• Support and supervise external contractors during complex or regulated interventions.
• Provide rapid response to equipment breakdowns to keep kitchen operations running.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in commercial kitchen, hospitality, industrial refrigeration or facility maintenance.
• Proven ability to perform diagnostics, repairs and preventive maintenance in high‑demand environments.
• Awareness of electrical safety, hygiene and food‑safety standards (HACCP) and basic fire‑safety concepts.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems and cooling cycles.
• Experience with commercial kitchen equipment maintenance.
• Electrical troubleshooting on 230/400 V circuits.
• Mechanical aptitude for motors, pumps, fans, belts, bearings and seals.
• Ability to read and interpret OEM manuals, schematics and technical documentation.
