Founding Mobile Engineer

About the role

We are a fast‑growing fintech building peer‑to‑peer and B2C payment solutions for Africa. As the founding mobile engineer you will create our first consumer‑facing Flutter app from the ground up, defining architecture, testing, deployment and the standards for future mobile products.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop a greenfield Flutter application, handling state management, navigation, modularisation and offline capabilities.
• Make core technical decisions on performance optimisation, platform‑specific features and security.
• Deliver the first production release and implement payment features such as proximity payments and SoftPOS.
• Set up CI/CD pipelines, staged roll‑outs, feature flags and monitoring for mobile releases.
• Collaborate with QA to establish a testing strategy from day one.
• Integrate AI tools into the engineering workflow and product development.

Required profile

• Significant commercial experience building Flutter applications at scale.
• Proven track record of architecting and shipping consumer‑facing mobile apps.
• Deep knowledge of Flutter, Dart, state management, performance tuning and offline‑first development.
• Solid native iOS and Android expertise for platform‑specific functionality.
• Experience with secure mobile development, CI/CD and automated testing.
• At least one year of daily use of AI tools to create automations that save time.
• Fintech, payments or early‑stage startup experience is a plus.
