Financial Controller

About the role

Air Apps, a family-founded company building an AI-powered Personal and Entrepreneurial Resource Planner, is looking for a Financial Controller. The role takes ownership of financial reporting, internal controls and overall accounting operations, reviewing financial operations, participating in budgeting and forecasting and ensuring compliance. It is a fully onsite position in Lisbon, with relocation support offered.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, control and report financial planning, budgeting and forecasting across departments and product lines
• Review monthly, quarterly and annual financial closings and reporting
• Oversee internal controls and ensure compliance with regulations and tax obligations
• Manage cash flow, cost control and ad-hoc financial risk assessments
• Analyse and report variances and provide insights on financial performance metrics
• Contribute to business planning and strategic initiatives with financial insights
• Optimise automation of ERP and accounting tools such as Netsuite, Payhawk and Ramp

Required profile

• Around 5+ years of experience in accounting, controlling or financial management
• Prior experience in a senior audit position or Big 4 firm is highly valued, and start-up/scale-up experience is also valued
• Degree in Accounting, Management, Finance or a related field (bachelor's or master's)
• Chartered Accountant qualification is a strong plus
• Fluent in English, written and spoken

Required skills

• Solid understanding of accounting standards, financial statements and tax regulations
• Experience with Excel, Netsuite, Payhawk, Ramp, Oracle or SAGE
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and clear communication of financial insights to financial and non-financial stakeholders
