Environmental Health Services Technician

About the role

The Environmental Health Services Technician ensures a clean, hygienic, and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff within a medical facility. Working closely with compliance and safety programs, the role supports FMCNA’s mission by maintaining high standards of cleanliness and infection control.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning, disinfection, and waste disposal in patient areas, bathrooms, kitchens, waiting rooms, treatment spaces and selected exterior zones.
• Clean and maintain facility equipment such as televisions, computers, HVAC units, vents, and furniture.
• Handle, label, dilute and document the use of disinfectants in accordance with MSDS and HMIS guidelines.
• Monitor and restock hygiene supplies (soap, sanitizer, paper products) and report supply needs.
• Identify and report maintenance issues such as leaking faucets, clogged drains, or broken fixtures.
• Assist with dialysis preparation areas, including proper cleaning techniques and solutions.
• Operate the Reverse Osmosis (RO) machine and conduct initial water‑quality testing.
• Perform basic facility repairs such as painting, bulb replacement, lock adjustments, and minor plumbing tasks.
• Support technical or nursing staff with equipment moves and heavy‑object handling when required.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced healthcare environment.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
• Physical capability to perform cleaning, lifting and basic maintenance tasks.

Required skills

• RO machine operation and water‑quality testing.
• Disinfectant preparation, handling and documentation.
• Compliance with MSDS and HMIS procedures.
• Inventory management and supply ordering.
• Basic facility maintenance (painting, bulb replacement, lock repair, minor plumbing).
