Engineering Manager

About the role

Welvaart is seeking an Engineering Manager to create the conditions for engineers and teams to succeed. You will bridge business priorities with engineering execution, foster collaboration between product and technology, and guide teams toward sustainable, high‑quality delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Own delivery execution and align it with the technology roadmap.
• Drive sustainable, predictable, and high‑quality software delivery.
• Act as line manager for engineers, providing coaching, feedback, staffing, and performance management.
• Introduce technology direction and engineering best practices.
• Focus on engineering quality, maintainability, and operational excellence.
• Collaborate closely with Product Owners and business stakeholders to align delivery with priorities.
• Serve as the technical counterpart to the Product Owner within the team.
• Shape and help implement technology strategy, standardization, and improvement initiatives.
• Foster a collaborative, accountable, and improvement‑oriented engineering culture.
• Participate actively in the day‑to‑day work of agile product teams.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in an engineering role such as QA Engineering, Software Engineering, or a comparable technical role.
• Proven experience leading, coaching, or developing engineers or engineering teams.
• Track record of combining people leadership with technical judgment and delivery ownership.
• Strong understanding of engineering quality, maintainability, testability, and operational excellence.
• Ability to translate business priorities into realistic and sustainable team execution.
• Confidence working closely with Product Owners, stakeholders, Agile Leads, and engineering roles.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Willingness to travel occasionally within Europe.
