Domestic Mail Support Analyst

About the role

The Domestic Mail Support Analyst provides specialized support to prevent hazardous, restricted, or perishable items from entering the United States Postal Service mail stream. This role assists the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) in its criminal, civil, and administrative missions.

Key responsibilities

• Observe mail in USPS facilities and identify items requiring examination under the guidance of a team leader or postal inspector.
• Isolate mail for inspection in accordance with local protocols and USPIS policies.
• Research information gathered from parcels using public, non‑public, and USPS databases.
• Assist postal inspectors in obtaining additional documentation and locating related parcels.
• Document notifications when related parcels cannot be located.
• Set up and break down equipment associated with mail inspection activities.
• Perform manual and automated inspection tasks as directed.

Required profile

• Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate records.
• Strong analytical skills for researching parcel information.
• Effective communication with team leaders and postal inspectors.
• Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, and mission‑dependent hours.
