Data Analyst

About the role

As a Data Analyst within Cisco ThousandEyes, you will apply analytical techniques to answer critical business questions and support the success of the Digital Assurance platform. The role focuses on producing statistical reports and performance analyses for government customers, helping them understand internet performance across regions.

Key responsibilities

• Generate statistical reports covering internet performance for government clients.
• Lead cross‑functional analytical projects, coordinating stakeholders and developing joint approaches.
• Collaborate with internal data scientists and external partners to design methodology for ISP performance reporting.
• Build and maintain data pipelines and dashboards to monitor trends in customer data.
• Use data‑driven insights to identify opportunities and patterns of interest to government customers.

Required profile

• Strong judgment in statistical analysis, including confidence intervals, weighted and trimmed means, and awareness of sample size limitations.
• Attention to detail in published outputs, ensuring accurate labeling, baselines, and chart axes.
• Ability to write clear, defensible reports for regulatory audiences.
• Comfort with manual script‑by‑script execution across multiple data systems.
• Proficiency with AI coding assistants (e.g., Cursor, Copilot) as productivity tools.

Required skills

• R programming (tidyverse, renv, multi‑file project navigation).
• SQL for analytical queries (BigQuery, MariaDB via bigrquery, DBI, RMariaDB).
• Literate programming tools (R Markdown, Quarto) and visualization packages (ggplot2, flextable, officedown).
• Data management across BigQuery, Google Cloud Storage, SharePoint/OneDrive, and local R sessions.
