CTO Engineer – Mechanical Design & Project Lead

About the role

Sidel is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join its CTO (Configure To Order) department in Santa Maria da Feira, Portugal. You will be responsible for configuring, designing and documenting CapFeeder machines while ensuring safety, quality, lead‑time and cost standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare complete Bills of Materials (BOM) for each project.
• Manage projects from Go‑Manufacturing through Factory Acceptance Test (FAT).
• Design special customer requests and participate in quality reviews.
• Provide remote support to workshop assembly and on‑site installation teams.
• Assist project managers and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the CTO department.

Required profile

• Mechanical engineering background.
• Ability to work autonomously on assigned projects.
• Rigorous, detail‑oriented and collaborative mindset.
• Comfortable communicating in an international, multi‑disciplinary environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.
• Experience using AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with PLM systems, preferably SAP.
• Strong knowledge of creating and managing BOMs.
