Contract Management Specialist

About the role

AbbVie is seeking a Contract Management Specialist to join its Clinical Operations team in Portugal. The role supports clinical research activities and contract management processes for studies conducted locally, while collaborating with regional and global stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contract management contact for Portugal, partnering with Legal, Finance, Clinical Operations, Site Management & Monitoring, and Study Teams.
• Manage the preparation, negotiation, and execution of clinical trial agreements, confidentiality agreements, study budgets, and related vendor contracts.
• Lead contract and budget negotiations with investigator sites and research institutions to support timely study start‑up and execution.
• Review and support contract‑related legal documentation, liaising with Legal for approvals and deviations.
• Set, manage and communicate priorities to local affiliate stakeholders, ensuring contracts and budgets are finalized within agreed timelines.
• Track contracts, budgets, and study documentation, maintaining metrics and records, and collect site intelligence for stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Health Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of clinical research experience, including contract and budget negotiation.
• Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Understanding of clinical research processes, medical, legal and financial concepts relevant to trials.
• Knowledge of ICH‑GCP guidelines and local regulations.
• Fluency in Portuguese and English, both written and spoken.
