Comptroller – Finance & Accounting Leader

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Comptroller to lead our accounting and financial processes. The role ensures the integrity of financial data, drives the monthly close, and provides analysis that supports strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full monthly accounting close, delivering accurate and timely financial statements.
• Own the profit and loss statement, balance sheet, general ledger, and all account reconciliations.
• Analyze trends, variances, and unusual transactions to inform management.
• Oversee bank reconciliations, inventory controls, and point‑of‑sale integration.
• Develop and monitor financial and operational KPIs, reporting results to shareholders and the Board.
• Strengthen internal controls across purchasing, sales, inventory adjustments, and payroll.
• Implement and improve QuickBooks, POS systems, and reporting tools while reducing manual processes.
• Ensure compliance with Puerto Rico tax regulations, including sales/use tax and municipal licenses.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• Progressive accounting experience with controllership and financial reporting responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of P&L, balance sheet, GL accounting, financial closings, reconciliations and internal controls.
• Experience developing and tracking financial and operational KPIs.
• Background in inventory‑intensive operations, preferably in distribution, construction materials, wholesale or retail.
• Hands‑on experience with QuickBooks and point‑of‑sale systems.
