Certified Accountant

About the role

The bank is seeking a Certified Accountant to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and regulatory compliance of its accounting and tax processes. You will work closely with Finance, Risk, Operations, and external partners to support high‑quality financial reporting within a multinational banking environment.

Key responsibilities

• Record accounting entries, process invoices, and handle ATM booking and other operational movements.
• Perform account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and manage the General Ledger and retail accounts.
• Prepare periodic financial reports, management information, and assist in the preparation of financial statements and cost analysis.
• Maintain tax records, file statutory declarations, and ensure compliance with Portuguese tax legislation.
• Register, update, and monitor tangible and intangible assets, supporting depreciation and amortization calculations.
• Calculate and record minimum reserve requirements and process payroll‑related accounting entries.
• Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and information.
• Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities and ensure timely regulatory reporting.

Required profile

• Certified accountant qualification.
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a regulated banking environment.
• Effective communication skills for interaction with internal and external stakeholders.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Portuguese accounting standards and tax regulations.
• Experience with General Ledger management and account reconciliation.
• Familiarity with financial reporting, audit support, and regulatory compliance processes.
