Application Engineer – Automotive Systems

About the role

The Application Engineer will lead the development of electromechanical systems for the automotive and light‑mobility sectors. Based in Portugal, you will work closely with customers and internal teams to bring concepts from design through to series production.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the development of a system or subsystem from project start to SOP, ensuring all specifications are met.
• Produce product and process FMEAs and create the Design Verification Plan (DVP) with associated testing.
• Coordinate design activities, involving internal experts or external consultants as needed.
• Maintain technical data in the PLM system at the required maturity for each milestone.
• Participate in prototype manufacturing and testing to gather feedback.
• Monitor quality, technical, cost and time indicators and drive corrective actions.

Required profile

• Strong experience in design development, preferably in the automotive industry.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written); French required; Portuguese essential for customer interaction.
• Dynamic, team‑oriented mindset with high autonomy and strong organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
