AML Transaction Monitoring Analyst (German)

About the role

The AML Transaction Monitoring Analyst (German) is responsible for detecting and preventing financial crime by analysing transaction alerts and conducting end‑to‑end investigations. The role supports both Consumer and Partner business segments and ensures compliance with internal AML policies and global regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyse transactional alerts generated by automated monitoring systems or manual referrals to identify potential money‑laundering, fraud or terrorist financing patterns.
• Conduct full AML case investigations, gathering data, performing transaction analysis, and corroborating findings using public and internal sources.
• Prepare high‑quality case narratives and supporting documentation for internal escalation or Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) filing within regulatory timelines.
• Perform background checks and contextual research on counterparties using public and subscription databases such as LexisNexis.
• Maintain clear audit trails and ensure all investigative steps are accurately captured in case management systems.
• Collaborate with Quality Control and Quality Assurance to meet internal policies and regulatory expectations.
• Participate in periodic refresh reviews, identify new red‑flags or typologies, and suggest process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Law or a related field.
• Fluent in English and German (minimum C1 level).
• At least one year of hands‑on experience in transaction monitoring, alert investigation and SAR preparation within a financial institution.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret large transactional datasets.
