Accounts Receivable Accountant (Junior)

About the role

Airbus Portugal is looking for a junior Accounts Receivable Accountant to join its Global Business Services (GBS) team in Lisbon. The role covers the administrative tasks of the Accounts Receivable process, from allocating incoming payments to supporting customer reconciliation and bad debt analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Allocate incoming payments to invoices manually or with electronic tools.
• At a later stage, create and modify customer master data and register customer contracts in SAP.
• Issue commercial delivery invoices, credit notes and advance payment invoices, and send them to customers with supporting documents.
• Verify external documents such as air waybills, bills of lading and transfer of title, and prepare debtor statements of account.
• Send monthly debt reconciliation letters to customers and support the dunning process and debt committees.
• Analyse customer bad debts, post bad debt provisions and write-offs when appropriate.
• Analyse balance sheet receivables and advanced payments accounts, prepare an ageing report and support audits and KPI reporting.
• Apply internal controls to postings and propose continuous improvements.

Required profile

• Junior accountant (recent graduate) or someone with experience in accounting administrative tasks, even without an accounting or finance degree.
• Finance, accounting, business administration or economics degree, or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of accounting transactions and closing, and of IFRS and accounting processes.
• Ability to understand customer needs and to interact with customers across Europe and the US.
• Advanced English; another language is a plus.
