Technical Writer

About the role

Nabu Casa is seeking a Technical Writer to own the documentation experience for its Hardware and Cloud products. You will translate complex technical concepts into clear, user‑focused guides that help a global community of smart‑home enthusiasts and developers succeed independently.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain end‑to‑end documentation for new features, integrations, and releases, aligned with product shipping cycles.
• Collaborate directly with engineers to research, verify, and author technical content, reducing their documentation workload.
• Audit existing documentation, flag outdated material, fill gaps, and improve structure and tone.
• Define and enforce documentation standards, style guides, and templates to ensure consistency across community contributions.
• Tri­age feedback from users, support, and internal teams, prioritising improvements that enhance user outcomes.
• Track documentation quality signals such as support ticket trends and community feedback, reporting findings regularly.

Required profile

• Strong technical writing background with a portfolio of developer or product documentation.
• Ability to read and understand code (Python, YAML, REST APIs) sufficiently to produce accurate content with minimal hand‑holding.
• Good understanding of smart‑home hardware and electronics, capable of basic troubleshooting.
• Experience with docs‑as‑code workflows, including Git and Markdown.
