Software Engineer – Real-time Autonomous Retail Platform

About the role

Sensei is building the backbone of an autonomous retail platform that combines AI, computer vision, and real‑time data processing. As a Software Engineer you will design, develop, and maintain high‑performance distributed services that power checkout‑free shopping experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices and real‑time data pipelines.
• Implement event‑driven architectures using Kafka or similar pub/sub systems to handle high‑throughput, low‑latency streams.
• Build robust APIs and inter‑service communication with gRPC, RTCP, and Protobuf.
• Containerize applications and orchestrate deployments with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Create and manage CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) for automated testing and release.
• Set up logging, monitoring, alerting, and observability using Datadog, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Collaborate with Computer Vision, Data Engineering, and DevOps teams to integrate model inference pipelines.
• Ensure reliability, fault tolerance, and performance across all deployed systems.
• Participate in code reviews and testing activities.

Required profile

• Strong background in building distributed, event‑driven systems.
• Experience with microservices architecture and real‑time data processing.
• Ability to work closely with cross‑functional teams (CV/ML, Data, DevOps).
• Commitment to writing production‑grade, observable, and scalable code.
