Senior Substation Physical Designer – Grid

About the role

As a Senior Substation Physical Designer you will join a project team to create detailed design deliverables for high‑voltage substations, working closely with engineers and other designers.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare substation General Arrangement, Electrical Equipment Plans, Section Views, Bill of Material, Lightning Shielding, Grounding, Conduit, and Below‑Grade plans.
• Develop control building equipment layouts, cable tray, lighting, and grounding sections.
• Interpret and incorporate vendor information into design documents.
• Conduct walk‑downs at client facilities and apply client standards.
• Mentor junior designers and drafters.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of substation physical design experience.
• Associate degree in Drafting or equivalent technical experience.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English (spoken, read, written).
• Ability to visualize equipment details, clearances and 3‑D parts without computer aid.
• U.S. work authorization (no sponsorship provided).

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Familiarity with Bentley Substation Design tools.
• Strong drafting and technical drawing capabilities.
