Senior Physical Designer for Substation Projects

About the role

The Senior Physical Designer will join a project team creating high‑voltage substation designs. The role combines detailed drafting, vendor integration, and mentorship in a hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare substation drawings including general arrangement, equipment plans, section views, lightning shielding, grounding, conduit, and below‑grade plans.
• Interpret vendor information, conduct walk‑downs at client sites, and apply client standards to deliverables.
• Mentor junior designers and drafters, ensuring quality and consistency across projects.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of substation physical design experience.
• Associate degree in Drafting, CAD, or equivalent technical experience.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English (read, speak, write).

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Familiarity with Bentley Substation Design tools.
• Ability to visualize equipment details, clearances, and 3‑D parts without computer aid.
