Senior IT Project Manager – HR & Payroll Implementation

About the role

We are looking for a senior IT Project Manager to lead HR and payroll system implementations for a B2B client in Lisbon. The role involves managing complex, cross‑functional programs, ensuring strategic alignment and delivery excellence over a six‑month contract with the possibility of extension.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate multiple related projects to achieve strategic business goals.
• Define program roadmaps, success metrics, milestones, business cases and execution plans.
• Partner with senior executives and business sponsors to ensure clear communication and alignment.
• Establish governance structures, status reporting and performance dashboards.
• Identify and mitigate risks, issues and interdependencies throughout the program lifecycle.
• Manage program budgets, resource allocations and vendor relationships.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote best‑practice delivery.
• Mentor project managers and cross‑functional teams, fostering collaboration and professional growth.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field; Master’s (MBA) preferred.
• 10–15 years total experience with 6–10 years in program or project management leadership.
• Proven experience in M&A programs, HR IT & payroll implementations and Workday or equivalent enterprise HR systems.
• Experience managing global teams and Agile ways of working.
• Relevant certifications such as PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2 or Agile Certified Practitioner.
