Project Manager – R&D (Automotive/Electromechanical)

About the role

The Project Manager (M/F/D) will lead R&D projects from concept through to delivery within Bontaz Portugal’s Development Center. You will coordinate cross‑functional teams, ensure technical specifications are met, and act as the primary liaison for internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and monitor project lifecycles, ensuring alignment with budget, schedule, and quality standards.
• Manage risk, change requests, and issue resolution throughout the project.
• Facilitate communication between engineering, design, procurement, and external partners.
• Prepare and present project status reports to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with automotive and electromechanical industry regulations.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Science or a related discipline.
• Proven experience managing R&D or automotive projects.
• Strong organizational, leadership and communication abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project and Jira.
• PMP or equivalent certification (preferred).
