Procurement Team Leader

About the role

Airbus Portugal is looking for a Team Leader for its Procurement team in Coimbra. The role supports the Head of Sourcing on management matters, oversees the implementation of general procurement policies and procedures, and supervises the workload of the procurement team.

Key responsibilities

• Support and assist the Head of Sourcing on management dimensions such as salary increases, promotions, competency management, training and development.
• Propose recommendations and supervise the implementation of General Procurement policies and procedures, and work on process harmonization, standardization and continuous improvement.
• Escalate back-office issues related to the General Procurement process and applications, and ensure strict compliance with Finance, Procurement, Purchasing and Supply Chain policies.
• Support the onboarding of newcomers, including global Airbus awareness, IT and HR tools and training, and share central information with the local team.
• Carry out procurement commodity activities, such as managing or supporting calls for tenders, contracts management, queries and claims, and supporting litigation topics.
• Supervise team workload in agreement with the Commodity Manager and liaise with Core Countries management and managers.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal customers and help them solve daily problems.
• Support the local procurement head and commodity/sub-commodity heads on special projects, such as systems evolution.

Required profile

• Procurement background with at least 8 to 10 years of professional experience in a commercial or industrial environment with tight deadlines.
• Team management experience, including escalation of issues, team building, training and team support.
• Good communication skills, rigor and conscientiousness, with proven ability to organize multiple tasks, build cross-functional relationships and work both in a team and independently.
• English fluency, with other European languages (French, German, Spanish) a plus.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of SAP is desirable, with a strong desire to develop further.
