Principal DevOps Engineer/Team Lead

About the role

Intermedia is looking for a Principal DevOps Engineer to serve as the technical lead and architect for its cloud infrastructure. The position is primarily remote, with occasional visits to the Coimbra office, and will evolve as new offices open in Aveiro and Porto.

Key responsibilities

• Define standards, reference architectures and best practices for DevOps, platform and release engineering.
• Architect and govern end‑to‑end delivery, including infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
• Design, implement and maintain Windows‑based high‑availability solutions with deep expertise in Windows clustering.
• Lead Linux automation, platform standardisation, patching, hardening and performance tuning.
• Own the Infrastructure as Code strategy using Terraform, and the automation strategy using Ansible.
• Build and standardise deployments with Octopus Deploy, GitHub and Ansible, including templates, shared steps and rollback procedures.
• Design and mature CI/CD pipelines, incorporating artifact versioning, approvals and policy‑as‑code where applicable.
• Establish observability standards with VictoriaMetrics and Prometheus, covering metrics, alerting, SLO/SLA monitoring and dashboards.
• Provide production leadership through incident response, root‑cause analysis, reliability improvements and capacity planning.
• Mentor and coach engineering teams on DevOps practices and cloud technologies.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading complex DevOps initiatives across Windows and Linux environments.
• Strong background in Windows clustering, high‑availability design and troubleshooting.
• Hands‑on expertise with Terraform, Ansible, Octopus Deploy and modern CI/CD tools.
• Deep understanding of observability stacks, especially VictoriaMetrics and Prometheus.
• Ability to define and enforce standards, drive architectural decisions and mentor engineers.
