Manager, People Business Partner (Maternity Cover FTC)

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Manager, People Business Partner on a fixed‑term maternity cover basis. You will work closely with senior leaders in Portugal to drive people strategies that support business outcomes, strengthen operational effectiveness, and enhance employee engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with senior management and people managers to deliver People & Capability programs such as performance management, talent reviews and the annual compensation cycle.
• Collaborate with European and global P&C colleagues to devise pragmatic solutions for complex HR matters.
• Participate in business and functional meetings to ensure people initiatives align with business priorities.
• Drive organizational change initiatives in partnership with the business.
• Support talent acquisition, hiring and onboarding of high‑quality candidates.
• Coach managers on employee development, career planning, performance management and succession.
• Act as a trusted advisor on employee‑relations issues, ensuring compliance with local legislation and company policies.
• Build cross‑border relationships with P&C teams to achieve shared objectives.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of HR best practices and local labor law.
• Contribute to ad‑hoc HR projects and initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience partnering with senior leaders on HR strategy.
• Strong understanding of compensation, performance management, talent acquisition and employee relations.
• Ability to influence and coach managers across the organization.
• Excellent knowledge of Portuguese labour legislation and HR best practices.
• Demonstrated capability to manage change and drive cross‑functional collaboration.
