Junior Software Engineer – Backend & Automation (Lisbon/Cascais)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Junior Software Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Lisbon/Cascais. You will work on backend development, automation, integrations and technical support within a regulated industry, while exploring AI‑assisted development practices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain backend logic, automation workflows and system integrations.
• Support automated data collection and processing across an international regulatory landscape.
• Investigate and resolve third‑line technical support issues.
• Write reliable, maintainable code following engineering standards.
• Monitor automation performance, identify bottlenecks and implement fixes.
• Collaborate with technical and non‑technical colleagues to automate business processes.
• Participate in Scrum ceremonies, technical discussions and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Apply AI tools thoughtfully throughout development, testing and problem‑solving.

Required profile

• 1+ years of commercial experience in C# backend or full‑stack development.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and confidence to investigate unfamiliar issues independently.
• Experience with Python, PowerShell or Bash/Shell and SQL databases.
• Understanding of REST APIs, integrations and web applications.
• Comfortable working in a Scrum environment with clear communication skills.
• Genuine interest in AI‑assisted development and evidence of self‑driven projects or extracurricular commitments.
