Junior P&L Controller – Middle Office ALMT

About the role

We are looking for two Junior P&L Controllers to join the Middle Office team of a leading global financial institution in Lisbon. The role sits at the interface between Front Office trading and Back Office accounting, focusing on Asset Liability Management & Treasury operations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily P&L data reconciliations between trading and accounting systems.
• Analyse discrepancies, identify root causes and explain market drivers of P&L variations.
• Improve operational controls and automate workflows to reduce manual validation steps.
• Act as a trusted partner for traders, accountants and risk managers, answering technical queries on P&L figures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related quantitative field.
• Strong understanding of ALMT concepts such as interest‑rate risk, liquidity management and funding mechanisms.
• Good knowledge of IFRS 9 standards for financial instrument classification and measurement.
• Fluent English (primary working language) and Portuguese.

Required skills

• High proficiency in Excel.
• Knowledge of VBA for spreadsheet automation.
