Head of Finance & Performance

About the role

Critical Software is seeking a Head of Finance & Performance to work directly with the CFO. This senior position will own company‑wide budgeting, performance measurement and reporting, providing an independent view of financial execution across sales, delivery and support functions.

Key responsibilities

• Own the corporate budget and performance reporting, tracking variances and surfacing drivers early for senior management.
• Partner with business‑area leaders to pressure‑test budgets, forecasts and raise the standard of financial planning.
• Identify financial risks early and present recommended mitigation paths to senior leadership.
• Act as the financial gatekeeper on major client and supplier contracts, protecting margins and flagging commercial risk.
• Monitor live contract performance and highlight risks missed by area‑level reporting.
• Oversee statutory close, financial statements and ensure SNC/IFRS compliance.
• Validate tax compliance in coordination with internal teams and external advisors.
• Lead procurement financial oversight, ensuring spend aligns with policy discipline.
• Serve as primary liaison to external auditors, banks and tax authorities.
• Drive AI and automation initiatives within finance, identifying tasks for intelligent agents.

Required profile

• Degree in Finance, Management, Economics, Accounting or a related field.
• 10–15+ years of finance experience, including senior leadership roles.
• Proven ability to challenge assumptions, influence senior stakeholders and push back on inaccurate numbers.
• Experience with high‑growth technology companies and exposure to M&A, post‑deal integration and transaction support.
• Strong understanding of IFRS, tax compliance and statutory reporting requirements.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with AI tools and automation agents for finance processes.
