Group Data Director

About the role

QIMA is creating a new Group Data Director role, the first position with real decision rights over shared data. The purpose is to turn data governance into measurable business value, linking every initiative to a clear business outcome such as better customer insight, faster reporting, or new revenue opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Hold binding decision rights on shared data definitions and master data standards, arbitrating cross‑team disputes.
• Chair the Data Steering Committee (Data SteerCo) with Commercial and Finance representation.
• Own the end‑to‑end unified customer data model, consolidating fragmented system‑specific records into a single reliable view.
• Define and maintain ontologies, taxonomies and reference data, sequencing work by business urgency and risk.
• Deliver core internal data products such as the Customer single source of truth and Service Catalogue, ensuring continuity of reporting.
• Collaborate with business experts, data owners and the Data Analytics engineering team to translate data initiatives into business outcomes.

Required profile

• Proven experience building data governance or data management functions from scratch.
• Ability to make binding decisions on data standards and to lead cross‑functional steering committees.
• Strong understanding of customer data models and master data concepts.
• Track record of delivering data‑driven business value within tight timelines (e.g., 90‑day proof of concept).
