General Ledger Accountant

About the role

Unilabs is looking for a detail‑oriented General Ledger Accountant to join its Finance team in Porto. The role focuses on maintaining accurate ledger records, supporting month‑end and year‑end closings, and ensuring compliance with local and international accounting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records in the General Ledger and ensure timely posting of all transactions.
• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and adjustments.
• Perform monthly account reconciliations and variance analyses.
• Assist in month‑end and year‑end closing processes under tight deadlines.
• Support the preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS and local GAAP.
• Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Tax teams.
• Respond to internal and external audit requests.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• 2‑5 years of proven experience in General Ledger or similar accounting roles within multinational companies.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS) and reporting.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems – Microsoft D365 (mandatory), Tagetik (preferred), CEGID (plus).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).
• Experience preparing journal entries, accruals, adjustments and month‑end close.
• Ability to perform account reconciliations and variance analysis.
