General Assistant

About the role

Thomas Franks, a founder‑led fresh food catering business in Lisbon, is looking for a General Assistant to support daily operations in a fast‑paced environment. You will work with a passionate team to deliver excellent service to customers while maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Support the team with serving customers, replenishing stocks and cleaning work areas.
• Prepare service areas for each meal service, including set‑up and breakdown of equipment.
• Set up, serve, clear, clean and store food, beverages and equipment for special functions.
• Prepare basic food items following hygiene and safety standards.
• Restock consumables during service periods and anticipate customer needs.
• Manage waste by emptying, removing and correctly recycling rubbish.
• Occasionally work evenings or weekends for events and school functions.
• Ensure food standards are met, control wastage and follow all health, safety and allergen procedures.

Required profile

• Team‑player with good listening skills and the ability to work independently.
• Impeccable personal presentation, reliable, honest and customer‑focused.
• Willingness to learn new tasks and take responsibility.
• Physical ability to perform moderate lifting, carrying and pushing.
• Right to work in Portugal and ability to provide a criminal record certificate.

Required skills

• Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification (certificate preferred).

What we offer

• Full‑time permanent contract (40 hours per week).
• Salary €12,880 per year.
