Director of Golf

About the role

The Director of Golf will lead all golf‑related activities for a luxury resort portfolio in Portugal, ensuring exceptional experiences for members and guests. This senior position oversees course operations, staff management, events, and the pro shop while shaping the strategic direction of the golf programme.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily golf operations, including tee‑time scheduling, course condition monitoring, and safety compliance.
• Supervise maintenance teams to uphold high standards of course quality.
• Recruit, train and lead golf professionals and support staff, creating efficient schedules and delivering superior customer service.
• Plan and execute tournaments and special events in coordination with event teams.
• Oversee pro‑shop activities, from inventory control to retail sales.
• Maintain strong guest relationships, address complaints promptly, and ensure a premium service experience.
• Develop and manage the golf department budget, monitor financial performance and set targets with club management.
• Collaborate on marketing initiatives, represent the golf facility at external events and network within the industry.
• Implement industry trends and new technologies, contributing to long‑term departmental goals.
