DevOps Automation Engineer

About the role

Unit4 is looking for a DevOps Automation Engineer to join its Cloud team. You will work closely with Cloud Operations Engineers to design, operate, and improve scalable services on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and self‑hosted Kubernetes clusters. The role focuses on reliability, performance, and automation across cloud‑native and on‑prem environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, operate, and enhance scalable services on AKS and self‑hosted Kubernetes clusters.
• Ensure reliability, performance, and observability of cloud‑native and on‑prem container platforms.
• Maintain Infrastructure‑as‑Code using Bicep, ARM templates, and Terraform.
• Support and improve CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps (pipelines, boards, Git repos).
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to expand automation and modernize operations.
• Act as a technical escalation point for global Operations Support teams.
• Introduce automation‑first improvements to deployments, infrastructure, and monitoring.
• Maintain clear documentation, runbooks, and knowledge‑base articles.
• Support and maintain PostgreSQL instances in cloud and containerized environments.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience running Kubernetes in production (AKS and self‑hosted/on‑prem).
• Strong understanding of Docker containers and cloud‑native architectural patterns.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, and ARM templates.
• Experience managing and optimizing PostgreSQL in cloud or containerized settings.
• Solid troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Security‑first, automation‑driven mindset.
• Ability to manage multiple projects while handling operational responsibilities.
• Comfortable working in fast‑growth environments.
