Data Scientist

About the role

The Global Markets and AI Lab at BNP Paribas is looking for a Data Scientist to join its Lisbon team. You will work with finance professionals across multiple global hubs to develop machine‑learning solutions that enhance front‑office control and surveillance, helping detect market abuse and unprofessional conduct.

Key responsibilities

• Explore and examine data from diverse sources to uncover patterns.
• Design and implement conceptual, statistical, predictive and optimization models.
• Perform data cleanup, normalization, and transformation for reliable analysis.
• Develop hypothesis‑driven experiments and conduct rigorous testing.
• Build ETL workflows to extract, transform and load data, linking it to existing systems.
• Optimize processes based on historical data and ensure data integrity and security.

Required profile

• Master’s or PhD in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science or a related quantitative field.
• Strong foundation in probability, statistical inference and linear algebra.
• Experience with machine‑learning techniques such as classification, prediction and clustering.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Numerical and ML libraries: NumPy, scikit‑learn, pandas, Keras, TensorFlow, PyTorch.
• Data analytics, manipulation and visualization techniques.
