Data Engineer ETL/ELT (French Speaker)

About the role

Decskill is seeking a Data Engineer specialized in ETL/ELT processes who can work in a hybrid model (2 days per week onsite in Lisbon). The role involves designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines while collaborating with French‑speaking stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for data integration and processing.
• Develop and optimise SQL queries and data transformation workflows.
• Build and maintain data warehouse and data lake solutions.
• Manage job scheduling and workflow orchestration using VTOM, Virtual‑M, or similar tools.
• Ensure data quality, lineage, and metadata accuracy across platforms.
• Troubleshoot production issues and optimise pipeline performance.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional and French‑speaking teams to deliver data solutions.
• Contribute to automation, documentation, and continuous improvement of data engineering processes.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in ETL/ELT development and data integration.
• Strong experience with tools such as Semarchy, Stambia, Talend, DataStage, or similar.
• Solid knowledge of SQL, data modelling, data warehouses and data lakes.
• Experience with VTOM, Virtual‑M, or other workflow scheduling/orchestration tools.
• Proficiency in UNIX/Linux, including shell scripting, awk and sed.
• Fluent English and French (minimum B2 level).
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering or related field.
